Hi! If you are used to messageboards then you can skip this section, but if you're a newbie then you may find it helpful. You'll notice there are several different forums each with its own theme, and we'd like you to try to use them as intended - for instance, if you have a business to advertise or ask questions about, don't use the "Games" forum to post in. But don't worry over-much.

You can select any forum simply by pointing at its blue title and single-clicking, which will present you with a list of the most recently-updated discussions in that forum (headed by any that the Admin, in his wisdom, has chosen to pin permanently at the head of the list). Clicking once on the title of these will open it up for you to read. And you can add your own comments to the end of any "thread" (as discussions are termed) simply by clicking in the "Quick Reply" box, typing your message, and then clicking the "Post Reply" button.

You can create a thread of your own by clicking on the "New Thread" icon towards the top right of the forum page; and you can reply to existing threads by clicking the "reply" icon which you'll find at either the top or the bottom of the page. In either case you get to use a lot more interesting features, which we'll look at in the next post in this thread.

When you add a reply, not by using the "Quick Reply" box but by the "reply" icon, you see several options as well as a box to type in. At the top is a "Subject" box, which is pre-filled with "Re: " and the title of the post you are replying to. You can wipe that out and fill in a title of your choice. Then you have a drop-down menu for your "Message Icon" which you can use to indicate the general mood of your post.

Then what about all those "Add Tags" buttons? Highlight a piece of text you are typing and then click one of the buttons, and something strange happens to your post - it gets extra characters inserted into it! When you go ahead and hit the "Post Reply" button, these will be interpreted and cause your text to be bolded, italicised, underlined, or whatever. You can try this out in the "Test" forum.

Additionally, you can embed "smilies" - tiny pictures - in your posts. Click on one of the pictures, and some more characters will be embedded. Again, they're interpreted when you actually make the post. So you can make your posts a lot more than just words on the screen!
